It would be cool if that's how that worked. Maybe, who knows. THEORIES YAY! I'm guessing that since Oz is based off of the wizard of OZ, which had the illusion of power, that he isn't actually as powerful as he might have you think. Of course he has whatever the heck semblance he has and super aura (as foreshadowed in the world of remnant:aura.) However, he also has some sort of time magic thing which originates from his cane. That's why when he fought cinder he had weird green hims around him. My theory as to how that work is either that he can slow down time around him while still moving normally for him, or that he can temporarily stop time but only in between the time it takes for the gears to get to point A to point B. I'm really bad at wording this. XD Okay, think of it like a clock or a pendulum. It ticks, time moves as normal, then silence in between time is stopped, then it ticks again and time moves as normal. It guess it would have to be a reaaaaaaaly fast clock, though. IDK. that's all I got for now. Maybe I'm completely out of the ball park. Also, The bubble shield may be a part of the cane's power or may not. The way he moves seems to indicate that it is, but I don't exactly know how bubble should could correlate with time magic. Another thing. It's a popular theory that OZ is immortal, which might also be from the cane maybe. That could make sense since immortality seems to have more correlation with time than bubble shields. Maybe the bubble shield is his semblance or maybe what he did was simply expand his aura farther away from his body. Aura was stated to be like a force field, and again it was hinted in a world of remnant that Oz is very experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to aura. As to what his semblance is: It's possible that we haven't seen it yet. Also, it may have some correlation as to why he's missing and where he is. Maybe. Maybe just one, maybe both maybe none. Maybe we have seen it and I'm just over analyzing and or interpreted something wrong/missed something.
Edit: It’s possible that OZ left Qrow the cane on purpose, due to its abilities. I suppose it’s kinda like that meme: It’s too dangerous to go alone, take this. Plus it might help with the whole taking over his role while he’s doing whatever the heck he’s doing thing. If he did lose to Cinder then why wouldn't she had taken it if it was so powerful? A.) She didn’t know, which seems unlikely since someone obviously gave her some sort of briefing on him based upon what she says after she kills Amber. B.) She didn’t need/want it, which seems more likely but based upon her apparent lust for power, she wouldn't just go and leave something that could grant her such power behind. C.) I’m completely wrong about literally every little bit, and the cane is just a normal cane, which also seems unlikely due to the commentary that the cast had during the Ozpin V Cinder fight. (One of the voice actors asked about the cane and the voice actor for Ozpin said time and gears. I couldn't understand/hear the rest due to how quiet it was. Based from this we can be pretty sure that the cane is at least not normal, although it’s not all that likely that it works exactly as I’m theorising.) So it’s probably likely that Qrow has the cane because Ozpin wants him to have it.
