Missions is the main method of acquiring monies in TB. Each mission has a tier. The higher the tier the greater the danger, the more effort needs to be put in, and the greater the reward. The word requirements of a mission are cumulative. This means that not all your posts have to meet the requirement but that your mission topic has to meet the total word requirement to be turned in. If you are doing a tier 4 mission and your first, second, and third posts are 300 words long then you can't turn it in yet because that makes 900 words in total. If you make one more post of just 100 or more words though you can then turn in the mission and collect the reward. Here at TB we encourage teaming up to do missions so instead of each person doing a mission having to both write 1,000 words for a tier 4 mission you instead share the amount of words needed for the mission but at a 50% increase for each person from the original requirement. That means two people doing the mission the combination of the posts from each person only has to equal 1,500. In other words each person only has to write 750 words. Say 3 people join the requirement is now 2,000 and each person only has to write 667 words. If someone abandons the mission (3 days of not posting or a time agreed by all parties involved) their words will still count towards the total however they will not be able to claim the reward for the mission. And in case you were wondering the reward is not split. Each person involved gets the full reward. Player targeted missions are the only exception.
A player targeted mission is a mission targeting or involving a player or player controlled assets such as Navi's summer house on the beach or her guild or her city or whatever. These missions follow different rules. To begin with they are death enabled. They actually have to be paid by someone meaning this money isn't coming out of an NPC's pockets and the reward is split with every person involved unless the paying person says otherwise. There is no limit on the reward that can be posted for a player targeted mission. Anyone can create any tier player targeted mission. Even if you are tier 3 you can still create a tier 0 player targeted mission.
Another different type of mission is staff moderated missions. These missions can only be created by members of staff and they are sometimes moderated by staff meaning it'll be the staff members rping the obstacles you face. It might be a split reward it might not. It may not even have a money reward it may be a reward item. Since these are usually important rps death is usually enabled in these missions.
You can create missions yourself however missions you create will need to be approved by a member of staff.
Missions with the option to become a higher tier based on your actions in the mission have the requirements of the lowest tier available on that mission. However taking that higher tier action may get a bounty stuck on you.
Some missions are unique meaning it can only be done once. Missions that are not unique can be done as many times as you want and there can be more than one of the same mission going at the same time.
Missions also grant ability points. AP is basically money that can only be used to purchase abilities, strength/speed tiers, and energy. One can combine AP and money to make these kinds of purchases.
Below are the 5 tiers of missions. Tier 2 and above are death enabled.
