It came out of nowhere, like a virus we never had time to grow an immunity towards.
All at once, at the thousands, mysterious, snake like people began to emerge all over the world. From the humid temperatures of the desert, to the swampy bogs. They swept across cities, killing people by the thousands. As the threat grew, and more people began to die off, the snake menace would only increase. Soon, people began to die off in the millions. It was complete chaos. Cities crumbled, societies shattered.
Even the government couldn't do anything about it. The snakes seemed to possess some kind of mysterious magic, and their power was far beyond that of the average human. Even when the humans had no choice but to revert to nukes, the creatures still lived on, like some large, bloodthirsty cockroaches. They swept through, and following them, was an ever growing forest, jungles. Soon, buildings were transformed into mossy outcrops.
The world had a new dominant species.
Now, with only about three million humans left on the planet, about three years have passed. The snake population is small, but still incredibly powerful. They have already started to rebuild the world to their liking. But they didn't do it alone. Roughly .1% of humans were transformed into snake people over night.
But what did these snake people look like? There were a couple different kinds.
Lamia- Ranging from five to ten feet tall, and with a length of up to thirty feet, sometimes even longer, these mythical creatures have the bottom have of a snake, and the upper half of a human. The split is very distinguishable, transforming from scales immediately to skin. Most lamias are female, and very beautiful, but there are some males. They sometimes have claws, possess fangs, as well as a forked tongue, and sometimes have slit eyes. They are the 5th most powerful kind of snake. They are also the most common kind of snake. They possess limited magic capabilities, and rely mostly on their own fangs or speed, sometimes even handmade weapons or their own tail, in order to fight.
Naga- The most powerful and rarest of the snakes, these creatures come in many different shapes and sizes. They range from seven to seventy feet tall, and some can be as long as two hundred feet. The largest nagas are only about 5% of the total naga population, though, so they are already very rare. They possess incredible magic abilities, alongside the ability to shapeshift, turning into any form they desire. They sometimes have more than two arms. They may have scales running up their body, and may have a not as distinguishable cutoff as the lamias do. They also may have pointed ears like an elf, claws, slit eyes, a forked tongue, and scales may be on their cheeks or neck. Their hair may also be more scaly. Can be either gender. May wield weapons, but prefer magic. May also have wings.
Nure-Onna- These mysterious creatures are sort of like a mix between the nagas and the lamias. They are the 2nd most common species of snake. They are generally female, but males are more common with them than lamias. They possess the lower body of a snake, and then the upper body of a human, but usually, scales will cover their bodies entirely, their eyes are slit, they have scaly hair, sometimes even snakes for hair, long claws, large fangs, and forked tongues. May also sometimes have fins on hands. They are generally from eight to eighteen feet tall, and up to forty or even sixty feet long. Of all the species, they are the 3rd most powerful. They possess magic, but usually in smaller quantities, and usually need to keep a check on how much magic they use. Mostly rely on vicious attacks from their claws and fangs, and have a more savage fighting style than the civilized lamias do. Due to their somewhat amphibian appearance, can sometimes have gills, classifying them as sea snakes.
Hatuibwari- Of all the snakes, none are more hideous than the Hatuibwari. They generally will take on the appearance of a vibrantly colored creature, with the upper body of a human, and the lower body of a snake, with horns, four eyes, claws, a forked tongue, slit eyes, large fangs, and huge bat wings. Their entire body, like the Nure-Onnas, is covered in scales, which are usually brightly colored. These beasts are quite large, standing from eight to twenty feet tall, and being up to sixty feet long. They can practice magic, but prefer to use their natural fire breath or acid breath. They are more adept in magic than lamias or Nure-Onnas are, but not as powerful in it as Zhuyins or Nagas. They are, however, the 2nd most powerful species of snake, and 4th most common type found. Most Hatuibwari are males, but females are not uncommon.
Zhuyin- These very intelligent monsters are perhaps the 2nd rarest of all the snakes, right under the powerful nagas. They are the 4th most powerful snake, though, they are perhaps the most adept in magic, even more so than the nagas. They are one of the most intelligent snakes, perhaps even more so than nagas. They are generally very solitude compared to most of the snakes, and prefer to be alone, rarely seeking tribes. They have the head of a human, and the entire body of a snake. They can also sometimes have fangs, and a forked tongue, but this isn't a trait they usually have. They can be manipulative and cold, and generally are about fifteen to thirty feet tall, and can be up to one hundred feet long. Are incredibly weak to water, and cannot swim.
Mutatera- Probably one of the most controversial species of snakes, these creatures are considered inferior by the rest of the snakes, and possess small to non-existant amounts of magic. They can be either feral, or very intelligent, it varies a lot depending on what they inherited. While about 30-40% of the turned human population became purebloods, the rest transformed into weird mutations. They sometimes just have a human body, with scales all over, or maybe have the head of a snake with the body of a human, or really any peculiar transformation. Generally, they appear more human than reptilian. The the weakest of the snakes, obviously, but are still much stronger than humans. They are the 3rd most common kind of snake, simply due to the long scale transformation process.
Due to the spread of the jungle and forest within the earth, and the increased temperatures due to climate change, the snakes have managed to make even more of the earth warmer, so that they may survive there, making it difficult for humans to flee. The snakes have also transformed much of the homes, and transported them into the trees. Most snakes will live their, in the huts in the trees, or in caverns in mountains, sometimes even in camps on the ground, or even in burrows underground.
Most snakes are lead by a naga in tribes scattered around the world. Some are composed entirely of nagas. Some have none. The only snakes that don't join or form tribes are the Mutatera and the Zhuyin.
The human population still exists, however, but in few numbers. They, however, are slowly beginning to think of ways to destroy this menace. And they have help. You! The special creatures of the earth, who aren't exactly happy with the fact that the snakes have taken over. Not to mention that some of the turned snakes don't like that their friends and family are being suppressed or eaten, so they have also turned to befriend the humans, and help them on their quest to reclaiming the earth.
In this roleplay, you may play as either a snake, a human, or your own character. You can chose the relationships that your character has with the snakes and the humans, however, unless you are part snake, you need to think of a valid reason for befriending a pureblood snake, not turned, or even turned, and tell me that relationship reason in your bio.
Keep in mind, if you are having trouble thinking of names, each of these creatures come from different cultural myths. Lamias are Greek, Nagas are Indian(Buddhist or Hindu), Nure-Onnas are Japanese, and the Zhuyin are Chinese. So please keep that in mind when naming them. :3
Without further ado, your bio! If you want to roleplay an already existing character, no need to create a bio.
